First HPV Vaccination in Kenya

These standard four pupils at Central Primary School, Kitui are a lucky lot. they are the first in Kenya and Africa to receive the HPV vaccine that is aimed at preventing cervical cancer. The Ministry of Health has partnered with various other organizations to give this vaccination, which when privately administered costs Kshs 9000 per dose. The three dose vaccine will be administered to all standard four girls countrywide for free, with Kitui being the pilot county for the vaccine roll out.
