Students Campaign against Drugs (SCAD)

SCAD is a non profit organization run by the youth. It is aimed at the reduction of alcohol use, substance abuse and HIV infections prevalence rates amongst the youth. It provides young people with the right information, empowers them with decision making skills and creates an enabling environment that supports good decisions in order to encourage them to make informed decisions.

SCAD started off as a club in Upper Hill Secondary in 1997 to deal with the escalating drug abuse among students. The pioneers sought to expand it to address drug abuse among young people in the whole country. They approached a doctor who introduced them to an in patient psychiatric unit where they  were trained on various ways of dealing with ADA. This empowered them to address substance abuse in their school and its environs; and SCAD was established.
