Do people always have an orgasm during sex?

No, they don’t.

But not reaching orgasm doesn’t necessarily mean that one or both partners didn’t enjoy the sexual act. 

It just means that for various reasons they didn’t reach the level of sexual excitement needed to trigger an orgasm.

Having sex without reaching orgasm is more frequent in women than in men for various reasons:

• Women generally need a longer period of stimulation than men to reach orgasm. 

So, if the man reaches orgasm first and loses his erection, intercourse will end there—at least for a while—and unless the man continues to stimulate his partner in a different way, she won’t reach orgasm

• Sex is not just a mechanical act in which you stimulate a certain part of the body long enough to cause a guaranteed orgasm. 

Stimulation is certainly a crucial part of lovemaking, but the mind and emotions also play a big role, especially for women. 

If your mind is filled with other thoughts, you’re anxious or worried, or you’re going through a tough time in life, you won’t be able to relax and focus on the sensations coming from your body—and that will affect your ability to reach orgasm.

• For many women, penetration doesn’t provide sufficient stimulation of the clitoris to achieve orgasm. In fact, according to some studies, only one-third of women have no problem reaching orgasm during penetration. 

Another third manage to do so only if the clitoris is manually stimulated during sex, and the remaining third is unable to reach orgasm during intercourse under any circumstances, despite having no problem reaching orgasm during masturbation or oral sex.
