Sexting. What is it?

The word sexting comes from the combination of sex and texting. 

It refers to the exchange of sexually explicit messages or pictures over cell phones and other digital media. 

Sexting is done for various reasons. For many people it is just a spiced-up version of flirting; for others it is a way to gain attention, popularity, or validation. 

Some people are dragged into sexting because they do not want to upset partners or friends who are pressuring them.
