Taking a break from your treatment is not recommended.
If you take treatment breaks you are more likely to become ill not only because of HIV-related illnesses, but also because of heart, kidney, and liver disease and some cancers.
There is a risk of the amount of HIV in your body (viral load) increasing, putting you at risk of opportunistic infections like TB
Also as your viral load increase there is a risk of transmitting HIV.
There is also a risk of developing drug resistance if you take a break from your treatment.
It is important to talk to your healthcare provider if you are having thoughts of taking a break from treatment.
