It can take place on social media, messaging - and gaming platforms, emails, and mobile phones.

Why do people do it? 

Cyberbullying happens for many reasons. But what makes it more appealing is the fact that it can be done anonymously. 

Some people engage in cyberbullying because;

  • Hurting others makes them feel powerful
  • They are ignorant of the consequences
  • It helps them cope with their own low self-esteem.
  • They think it will help them fit in with their peers.
  • They have trouble empathizing with those they hurt.
  • They see cyberbullying as normal due to social pressure

How do I know when it is cyberbullying?

Well, it is easy. 

If you see any form of online posts or messages that make you feel bad about yourself because it was written about you, chances are it is cyberbullying.
