ACNE AND PIMPLES
Acne, also called pimples is so common that it is considered a normal part of growing from a kid to an adult.
If you are a teenager right now, chances are that you probably have acne.
Acne is a skin condition that shows up as different types of bumps. Acne is typically present on your face, neck, back, and shoulders. These are the whiteheads, blackheads, and bright red pimples that torment us in our teenage years.
Acne occurs when the hole or pores of your skin become blocked with oil, dead skin, or bacteria. As a result, a pimple might develop.
Acne is not life-threatening. It can be painful and cause some emotional distress.
Different types of acne
Acne comes in different forms:
- Mild acne: this causes the whiteheads or blackheads that most of us get at some point
- Moderate acne: this can cause red, inflamed pimples and red pimples with white centers
- Severe acne: this causes painful, pus-filled cysts or lumps under the skin
Can acne scars be removed?
Most of the time those scars caused by acne will fade away on their own and will not need any treatment.
The most serious scarring caused by severe acne is more likely to leave permanent scars than other types of acne.
To prevent this from happening, the best approach is to get treatment for acne before it gets to the severe stage.
How do you prevent acne?
- The best thing you can do to prevent acne or at least to reduce it is to keep your skin clean by washing it daily with mild soap
- It is also helpful to drink a lot of water and to avoid oily skin products.
- Don't scrub your face since it can actually make acne worse by irritating the skin. Instead, wash your face gently, using your hands instead of a washcloth.
- Wash your face after exercising or after sweating a lot
- Don’t pick or squeeze or pop your pimple
- Avoid touching your face all the time
- If you are using makeup, take time to remove it before going to bed
