Self-care is all about looking after yourself or simply caring for yourself.
It’s about knowing yourself and knowing the things that are helpful to you to keep you physically and mentally healthy.
It’s also knowing things that are not helpful to you.
Self-care is going to look different for everyone. So find activities that work for you.
For self-care think about activities that will make you feel mentally well in the long term like:
- Getting enough sleep,
- Eating a healthy diet
- Getting some exercise
- Practicing mindfulness and meditation
These activities aren’t fun for everyone. But consider adding activities that you find relaxing or pleasurable. They may include
- Taking yourself to the movies
- Reading books
- Engaging in social activities you enjoy with the people you care about
