SELF ESTEEM 101: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

Self-esteem basically means feeling good about yourself all the time. 

If you have self-esteem, you will usually be proud of what you do, you believe in yourself and feel accepted and liked by others. 

If you have low self-esteem, you will always feel bad about yourself, think you are not good enough, and be hard on yourself.

Parents, teachers, and friends affect how we feel about ourselves. When they focus on the positive things about us, they make us feel good about ourselves but when they focus on the negative things about us, they make us have a low self-esteem 

The things you say to yourself also play a bigger role in determining how you feel about yourself. Thinking like “I am not good enough, I am will never be beautiful,” can hurt your self-esteem. It is good to be positive and say positive words to yourself like; “I am beautiful; I am good enough.” They can boost your self-esteem. 

Learning new things like drawing, cooking makes us feel good and can improve our self-esteem. However, when things don’t go according to how we want them to go, or when things we do are not good enough, we tend to be hard on ourselves and miss the chance our self-esteem.
